Specialist software developer Vectric Ltd has launched Version 2.0 of its CNC routing and engraving software VCarve Wizard for high quality decorative sign making, engraving, and wood carving.
VCarve Wizard 2.0 includes a huge amount of powerful new CNC machining functionality that makes routing or engraving even the most complex of jobs quick, easy and fun. Sign maker William Wallace commented, 'This is a great program and the most fun I've ever had making signs!"
The major new features in Version 2.0 include - Fast and efficient Flat Bottomed V-Carving for routing signage and woodcarvings using multiple tools as quickly and accurately as possible. This machining strategy uses a large diameter tool to machine any open flat regions, followed by a V-bit or engraving tool to carve the detail and any regions where material has been left on the design from the previous cutter.
Engravers will benefit from the totally new Precision 3D Engrave functionality for machining high quality plaques, awards and printing plates etc. This strategy lifts the conical engraving cutter into any sharp corners on a design, producing perfect results that look hand finished. Using a large diameter cutter to remove the stock material followed by the finishing tool that only cuts the detailed areas, ensures jobs are engraved as quickly and precisely as possible, without sacrificing the level of detail.
New Profiling and Pocket machining strategies plus a Configurable Tool Database provide the all-round flexibility needed to machine decorative borders, add recessed pockets and cut jobs out of the stock material. All toolpaths include options to cut at multiple Z depths from variable start depths, enabling complex designs to be very quickly and easily produced.
The new version of VCarve Wizard also includes improved high quality, photo realistic Job Preview that shows exactly what the finished design will look like when routed or engraved. The software also Estimates the cutting times for all toolpaths, which is ideal for accurate job pricing and machine utilisation. The industry standard vector import filters have been updated and a new PDF option has been added to enhance the level of integration with other design software. Customer Bill Lebeda has been testing the new software and commented "The new features are all outstanding and the actual cut is identical to the rendered preview".
