Vectric Gadgets

These are the currently available add-on gadgets available for Aspire.

A gadget is an external add-in program which performs a specific task. New gadgets are simply copied to the "Gadgets" folder and when the program is restarted are available from the Gadgets menu. The program is shipped with a number of gadgets and more may be made available from the Vectric web site over time. Please refer to the reference manual for more information.

It is important to point out that the gadgets are NOT as polished as functionality which has been integrated into the main program. The gadget concept is intended to allow Vectric to produce simple add ons which address specialist requirements without cluttering up the main interface.

	Keyhole Toolpath Gadget This gadget creates toolpaths to machine keyhole slots using a 'keyhole' cutter. Documentation: Keyhole Toolpath Gadget Guide (0.3Mb PDF) Download: This gadget is supplied as standard with Aspire and VCarve Pro
	Wrapped Job Setup Gadget This gadget is used to simplify the task of setting up a job for machining 'flat' toolpaths wrapped on to a rotary axis / indexer. We highly recommend that you use this gadget to set up your job for rotary machining wherever possible as a number of other gadgets supplied by Vectric rely on information added to the job when this gadget is run. 	Create Rounding Toolpath Gadget This gadget is used to simplify the task of creating toolpaths to machine a rough blank to a finished diameter for users with a rotary axis / indexer. It supports rounding from either round or square stock and creates the toolpaths directly from the gadget. The gadget is designed to be used in conjunction with the "Wrapped Job Setup" gadget and if the file has been set up by the 'Wrapped Job Setup' gadget, the default values for axis orientation and final cylinder diameter will be picked up automatically from the job Documentation: Create Rounding Toolpath Gadget Guide (0.3Mb PDF) Download: This gadget is supplied as standard with Aspire and VCarve Pro
	Wrapped Fluting Layout Gadget This gadget is used to simplify the task of creating toolpaths to machine flutes and coves on a rotary work piece. The gadget is designed to be used in conjunction with the "Wrapped Job Setup" gadget and if the file has been set up by the 'Wrapped Job Setup' gadget, the default values for axis orientation and final cylinder thickness will be picked up automatically from the job. This gadget does NOT create toolpaths directly. It lays out vectors in the 2D view which can then have toolpaths created using either the Profile or Fluting toolpaths within the main program. 	Wrapped Spiral Layout Gadget This gadget is used to simplify the task of creating toolpaths to machine spirals / barley twists and coves on a rotary work piece. The gadget is designed to be used in conjunction with the "Wrapped Job Setup" gadget, and if the file has been set up by the 'Wrapped Job Setup' gadget, the default values for axis orientation and final cylinder diameter will be picked up automatically from the job. This gadget does NOT create toolpaths directly. It lays out vectors in the 2D view which can then have toolpaths created using either the Profile or Fluting toolpaths within the main program. 	Vector Unwrapper Gadget This gadget is used to 'unwrap' vector shapes so that they can be used to create rotary projects with complex cross sections in Aspire. After drawing the closed cross-section profile you want, this gadget will 'unwrap' it into an open vector suitable for use with the Two Rail Sweep command to create a model which wraps back into the original cross-section shape. The PDF guide shows examples of how this gadget can be used and includes installation instructions.
