Wrapped Rotary Toolpaths
Wrapped Rotary Toolpath postprocessing and viewing allows all toolpaths created in VCarve Pro to be saved and run on CNC machines fitted with rotary 4 axis / indexer setups.
The new rotary axis functionality is perfect for designing and cutting projects such fluted columns and barley twists or engraving text onto round projects.
Note: This functionality wraps VCarve Pro toolpaths around a cylindrical axis. It does not allow rotary machining for full 3D models such as statues to be calculated.
Gadgets for Rotary Axis Projects
Special Rotary Axis Gadgets have been added to help setup projects. The Gadgets available for use with version 2.5 include,

Gadget for Keyhole Toolpaths
Special gadget that automates the process of creating toolpaths to machine keyhole slots using a 'keyhole' cutter.
Rapid Plunge Gap
This new option has been added to the Material Setup form reduce machining times by allowing the tool to move at the Rapid Feed Rate / G00 to a specific height above the material surface. This option allows the cutter to move at maximum feed rate when at the specified Clearance Height, avoiding clamps etc. and also rapid down the Z axis to the Plunge Gap height, from where it will then start to move at the specified plunge feed rate.
Toolpath Settings
Options have been added for controlling the 2D toolpath previews and the display color and whether to automatically swap to the 3D view / Preview simulation menu when a new toolpath is calculated.
Post Processor Enhancements
The postprocessor has been significantly enhanced with more variables making it more powerful and flexible. The new options make the software compatible with even more CNC control systems and allows some of the ‘Big Iron’ machines to be run more easily and seamlessly.
The main enhancement is the option to Wrap the XY data in a toolpath and output code that includes angular moves.
New variables added include,
- Option to wrap the toolpath data around an axis
- Support for splitting large files automatically into smaller segments
- Output the list of Tools used in the file
- Date and Time when the toolpath was saved
- Filename of project and any associated notes
