Customer Case Study - G. Watson Designs

For this month's case study we talked to Greg Watson, founder of
G. Watson Designs located in Northern California.

We first came across Greg's work after watching a promotional video that showcased the use of CNC in his business. During the video we noticed that Vectric Aspire and Vector Art 3D were key parts of the process used in his shop. This prompted us to contact Greg and find out more about his use of the technology and how it has benefitted his approach to fine woodworking.

NEW - Introduction to CNC Guide

If you're new to the world of CNC (or computers) then the technical nature of a lot of the information can make it seem like a difficult subject to unlock. To help make things a little easier to understand we created an Introduction to CNC Guide that explains some of the most important concepts and technical jargon.

The basic guide is now available to read on the Vectric website. We have also published an in-depth 43-page PDF version of the guide for those of you that would like futher information about the subject.

We hope you find this resource useful.

Vectric "Labs" Blog

Last month we added a new entry to the (occasionally updated) Vectric “Labs” blog. This has the instructions and files to cut the slot-together ply wood Beer Bottle Tote that we were cutting at the Maker Faire. You can read more about this and also access files for the 2-sided Love Spoon from the Labs Blog page.

User Group 2013 - Over 3/4 Places Booked

With only two months to go over 3/4 of the spaces for the User Group are now booked. We are starting to firm up the details of the agenda which will cover a variety of topics relevant mainly to Aspire but also to VCarve Pro users. As with previous User Groups this will be a great way for beginners to accelerate their use of the software and for experienced users to take themselves to the next level. This is also a unique environment to meet like-minded CNC enthusiasts.

The event will be taking place on the 4th and 5th October 2013 and will see the team returning to the Embassy Suites Convention Center, Las Vegas. As with previous meetings the presentations will show new features, how best to use them and also include many tips, tricks and productivity enhancing ideas. We also encourage everyone attending to bring examples of their work to show and discuss with other attendees.

You can follow the link below to see more information on the meeting and how to book a place. There is also an agenda now available for the meeting on the same page.

AWFS - Post Event Report

Several of the Vectric team were at the AWFS trade show in Las Vegas last month. The show was busier than two years ago, both with people looking for new CNCs and also lots of existing customers. Thanks to those who stopped by the booth and talked to us about their experience with Vectric software and took the time to show us their work. As always it was nice to make contact face to face and be inspired by seeing what our customers do. A big thanks also to the CNC manufacturers that partner with Vectric who were at the show, it was great to see so many stands with Vectric software being used to cut demo parts on the different machines.
