Free Project of the Month -
Retro Camera Timepiece

This month's free project created by Michael Tyler for Vectric is a retro camera timepiece, this would make a great gift for all those enthusiastic photographers out there and those that appreciate a little bit of history.  Available free to all Aspire 4.5 and VCarve Pro 7.5 users.

This ambitious project should certainly keep you busy using double-sided machining, small craft work and artistic skills to get the finished product.

The finished dimensions of this project are approximately W8.25" D8.375" H7.75".

Case Study - Gene Crain & Vcarve Pro

In this month’s case study we turn our attention to an amazing entrance door created by Gene Crain for the Las Ventanas Hotel Villa in Mexico.

The intricate design was part of a larger project requiring more than 450 individual elements intended to recreate a traditional, finely detailed, Moroccan style.

In this article Gene explains how he first got into CNC machining and shares his tips for working with large, complex, solid wood items

Jim McGrew's Camp

James rated this year's Aspire Camp, organised and hosted by Aspire customer, Jim McGrew, as the best yet. Vectric supported the event with demonstrations from James, Becki and Sara of tips, tricks and techniques to get the most from Aspire but, as always, the stars of the show were our amazing customers.

Michael Tyler (creator of our projects of the month), Tim Merrill & Michael Mezalick (Vectric Forum heroes) all delivered excellent presentations and the showcase of the other attendees' work was outstanding.

We know that the opportunity for more than 80 Aspire customers to meet and exchange ideas at events like this is invaluable and we'd like to take this opportunity once again to thank all those who contributed, particularly of course Jim for organising such an enjoyable and successful camp.

Maker Faire 2014

Vectric developers, Brian, Adam & Edward spent a week in sunny California this month to attend the inaugural MakerCon - a conference focused on the impact of the maker movement on science, business and technology.

They were delighted to meet many Vectric customers who are currently using our software to produce a startling variety of objects - from circuit boards to buildings!

Then our friends at ShopBot once again offered us a corner of their busy stand at Bay Area Maker Faire, and two CNC machines to play with. Our only brief: make something fun and interesting for the thousands of expected visitors...
