Free Project of the Month - Gothic Wall Shelf

This month’s attractive looking project was inspired by an antique Gothic-style niche shelf. The Aspire project is similar to the original in several ways, but redesigned to be a bit smaller. Michael Tyler who creates our projects calls this one the “Petit Gothique”. The back has two keyhole slots that provide a convenient method to securely hang the shelf unit on your wall.

The finished dimensions of the sample Petit Gothique Wall Shelf are approximately:

10.65 " W x 19.5 " T x 6.875 " D

Available to Aspire V8.0 users or higher.

Case Study - Quilter Labs with Robert Becker

This month’s case study allows us to take a glimpse into the Rock and Roll world of Robert Becker, Chief Operations Officer at Quilter Laboratories, an American guitar amplifier company located in sunny southern California. Quilter Labs make a variety of amplifier models, from small heads to combo amps, all with the help of VCarve Pro. Recently though Robert had an opportunity to use the software to help customize a restoration he has completed for Rami Jaffee keyboardist for the Wallflowers. Click below to read more about the unusual instrument Robert worked on and also to watch a video of it in action.

The full collection of projects in the new version includes over 50 individual models, 10 pre-assembled layouts, 5 project sheets and many other great suggestions for how the models can be put together. There is also a video to help you get started with using them in VCarve or Aspire. You can also purchase them as individual projects too if you just want a particular themed design.

NEW Tips & Tricks Videos

In addition to our huge library of 'full length' tutorials we have now started to create short 'Tips & Tricks' videos. These sub 5 minute videos will tackle specific software topics to provide a different set of tools to help you get the most from the programs. To start we have a relatively modest selection showing some node editing tips and how to add fonts into your software library. We plan to add regularly to this selection though and would welcome suggestions for topics - online@vectric.com.

What have we been making in Vectric Labs?

December was a whirlwind month at the Vectric HQ but a few members of staff still found time to get into the Vectric Lab. Am and Sean created some Christmas themed projects using Vector Art 3D and Design & Make clip art.
