I'm really glad I chose this software with so many opportunities that ease the work, upgrades are always extremely good and impressive.

Well, I really like the idea of the toolpath library function.. That would help eliminate a lot of mistakes.
Thanks Vectric guys for posting the PDF.

Hello Mihai, ( viewtopic.php?p=87245#p87245 )

Quote:
Also the Aspire 3.0 icon didn't change in 3.5 after update.

As mentioned in the installation instructions, after the upgrade, the icon will continue to say Aspire 3.0.
When you click on it the software will now be the upgraded version 3.5.

Quote:
When i click on the thumbnail command it just shows the aspire logo instead of the 3d image.

If the files were saved using Aspire version 3.0 or lower, the thumbnail will just display the Aspire icon.
If you wish it to display a thumbnail of the contents of the actual file, you will need to re save the file using version 3.5 of the
software.
Vectric forum member Tim Merrill has posted up an excellent guide to how he went about
converting his Version 3.0 files on this post on the forum.
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=12606

Notice the caveat, that the 3D image must be within the material in order to display within the thumbnail.

I hope that this helps.

Cheers,

Mark.

Just wanted to say kudos to 3.5! The big thing for me, and I'm aware that its not that big a deal to many, is the added units in the embedded calculator fields. Don't know know how initimate you had to get with regular expressions to get this functionality, Brian, but I find that it is now something I use every time I bring up Aspire. Out of all the new stuff in 3.5 I took to it immediately! That and create arc parameters.

Thanks!

Now that we have graphic icons for crv3d files, what about those forgotten and beloved crv files. Is there a way to embed the icon into them and not have to make an extra file as a lot of us have been doing? I realize that they could be converted to crv3d files but question the wisdom in doing so because of the loss of functionality and or resolution. What would be the pros and cons of converting crv files to crv3d files to gain the use of the embedded graphic icon? I have long ago created graphic files to able to recognize them but it would be nice to have consistencey with the files and not have to have the extra files.

Other than the time it takes and the lack of backwards compability with VCarve is there any issue with saving CRV files as CRV3D? They're a bit larger in size obviously but I haven't seen any detrimental effects. As (I presume) the CRV3D format is a superset of the CRV format I wouldn't expect there to be any issues.

I resaved all of my mine to get the preview (backed up the originals on DVD) and I haven't noticed any issues. Not being able to open them in VCarve isn't an issue for me.

Your thinking is along the same path as mine and as you have done i think it would be a good idea to back up the crv files just in case an unconsidered problem arires later in time as often happens. Thanks for you thoughts.

Thank you Vectric for a job well done!
It is a fantastic upgrade!
I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet 1/2 of the Vectric Team at the Vegas User Group Meeting.

Hi

First of all, thanks for a great 3.5 Update :D
Really like the option to make different Z depth in a toolpath
Very handy with a vacuum table :)

For Aspire 4.0 I would like see the option to move the icons to fit my needs
After a while I tent not to look to close at the icon it self, as I know where it is placed.
Now after adding extra functions to the program the icons have moved
And i'll like to be able to move them back to where they (used to be) :D

I have a problem with the 3.5...

After the 3.5 update I get the this error message "Failed to create preview image"
I get the Error on both my computers (Shop and office) running XP Sp3
What am I missing :?:

Hello.

I am seeing the graphic icon displayed within the Aspire software, saved after the upgrade, but I still see the regular Aspire logo displayed in windows explorer. Could this be because I'm using windows Vista?

John

Hi Borge,

Can you contact support so we can get more details. I assume you are not running XP inside a virtual machine are you as this is the only time we have seen the warning previously.

Brian

Hello John,

This should work fine in Vista, but you must have large or medium icons switched on. If this is the case can you contact support (support@vectric.com) so we can get more details?
