After releasing V2.503 we have identified an important problem with the roughing with some allowance values and ball nose tools. We have fixed this problem to create a new version V2.504.

To avoid people having to download a large patch file again, we have created a smaller patch file which will update an existing V2.503 install to V2.504.

The patch file is available by clicking on the link below

AspireV2503_to_V2504_Upgrade.exe

After running the patch your V2.503 will be modified to Version 2.504.

If you are still running Aspire V2.015, please download the patch from this post http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7156 which will upgrade your install directly to 2.504.

As well as fixing the above problem, this version adds the ability to resize the file open / save dialogs. The Gadget dialogs have also had scroll bars added to help those people with smaller monitors.

In addition to the roughing bug mentioned above this version also fixes the problem with mm units not being displayed for the boundary offset in roughing and also marks the job as modified when the notes are edited.

We apologise for any inconvenience the roughing problem has occurred and we do recommend that all users of V2.503 update to this version.

Brian

Thanks Brian
That must be a record time for a patch! The only problem it caused me was not being able to stop the preview after it started. The team has impressed me again.

Brian
I just intalled the patch and tired a roughing cut on on one of my files and found that the blue simulation bar at the bottom of the screen still doen't advance and I'm still unable to stop the roughing simulation. Just to let you know for reference.

Hello Larry,

It seems to be working for me.

Are you able to send me a copy of the file that you are having problems with?

If so, please send it to support (at) vectric (dot) com.

Cheers,

Mark.

Worked fine for me as well. tested the tapered leg from the usergroup DVD. Clicking the stopX during the simulation just 1 time stopped it after about 3 seconds, so not immediately. I can live with that. I do see the blue simulation bar advancing...

I did a little checking and it seems as though it is just the files that were created between the V2.503 uprade and the V2.504 patch that was having problems. After i recalculated the roughing tool paths it is working OK.

Boy am I glad I read this post!!!!!! I have been trying to learn Aspire with sucess but made a drawing that had a small dish relief in it. I bet I worked on it for about two hours and never figured out what I was doing wrong. It would always leave a "wall" at the point that it would come up to the top of the surface. After reading the post, I installed this update and guess what? It wasn't my mistake! It was the update that was needed. Boy am I glad it wasn't me and just the software. Thought maybe I was losing my marbles.
