Re: Chair/step ladder new photos
Here are three files for the chair/step ladder.
NOTE: Back and stretcher are thicker to accommodate 1/2" dowels.
NOTE: Check all tool paths for your material thickness.
After v-carving and cutting out the back and stretcher I ran the stretcher through the planer to make it 3/4" thick
The second file is the chair bottom for both left and right sides
The third file is the sides for the back/ladder. You will need to flip the left side horizontal and create the right side.

Thanks for sharing the files, unfortunately I don't have Aspire. I have V-carve so is there any way to convert this to work in VCP. Thanks for any input.

Dale,
Thanks for the new details. I currently have six chair/step ladders in progress. Building three for my granddaughters and three additional for friends grandchildren. The chairs will cost me a few bucks but a fun project to do between jobs.

Great design. Had some students spot this and we've done a couple of prototypes with some minor changes of your design. Instead of doweling the back into place, we created pockets and lengthened the back to match the depth of the pockets. This eliminated the nessary drilling and positioning of the back. We also tipped the chair back an additional 5 or 6 degrees...my students thought the prototype was too steep.
To convert to VCPro, download the original .dxfs and then it's easy to create the profiles or pockets in VCPro.

I don't want to hijack Dale's project or take over his thread. I had 2 students spot the original post in December and it took off from there. They made a prototype in mdf from Dale's .dxf files and then some very slight changes and a second mdf prototype. Here is some of their work done in Inventor.

Thanks Dale
