Cigar Lounge/Man Cave Sign

Post by John Murphy »

Thought I'd post one of my latest Signs. I had allot of fun with this one. Frank Douglas of Anything Stainless asked me if I could do up a little sign for his Man Cave/ Cigar Lounge at his home. He asked for a simple shingle, and I was feeling a little creative that day, so I did up a quick simulation for him, using a cigar band that I had spotted on the net.

Once he saw the simulation, it was a go! The design and machining was all done in Aspire. The wood base is English Oak(white oak) and Wenge inlays for the dark areas. The back has a cavity carved out, and I encouraged Frank to write up a brief description of the sign and his Man cave for future posterity. I made a cover with engraving stock and engraved the date along with his name and mine. I like to document these types of projects just for the sentimental value that they may have in the future. It may make a nice keepsake for a son or daughter, or even grandson or granddaughter.

Thank you - I have a very special application for something similar.

I like it so much that I am gonna use that idea.

March 2016 is when I will present it.
