Thanks for all of the compliments and taking the time to give some great information and ideas. I will be able to do a lot of this once we come back from the honeymoon in a couple of weeks, but still finding the time to cut things while building a house will be rough (the CNC is about 10 minutes away from my current residence).

I remembered last night though that I had a let a friend borrow money a couple of months ago and he has offered to pay me back several times, but I told him to hold onto it and I would get it when I needed it back to buy something. Well I believe this very thing is what I need to use it for.

Ordered it on Sunday, I hope that it gets here soon, I think the mail man is getting weirded out by my dancing when he drops off the mail.

First thing on the agenda is to make a coat rack out of Curly Cherry for someone, and then make some samples and some videos.

Finally got off my backside and ordered my copy last night..... really looking forward to watching the videos.

Finally got round to cutting something from the disc. I was intrigued to see how the detail cut-off technique looked in practise.

I scaled it down as most of my cnc work is decorative for small boxes and cabinets. It's about 6" x 4".

I should have chosen a better piece of scrap from the bin for the test as the grain is poor for this sort of image but it's done the job as required.

I really like the effect around the edge. I'll definitely do something along these lines in a larger scale and with some better finishing when time allows.

Since the day after UPS gave me only "the delivery notice" (next day they brought me the package ) I have been spending all my free time (in between 'normal' working time and relocating my company to another location) watching the video tutorials and listening good to James 'Master of 3D' B to learn of every minute of video on the DVD !!
My sincere compliments to all who participated in the development of this DVD.

This package is worth every (dollar, euro, roebel or whatever you spend) !!
I am glad I did spend my euros!!

She will have more ideas for you to create on your cnc-machine then you will ever expect her to have .....
She has: a 'little' job for her kitchen, something in the bedroom a few parts in the living room, nice part round the frontdoor etc etc.
never knew she was so interested in cnc

Nevertheless I am happy to have bought this package and am eagerly waiting for the packages that undoubtly will follow !!

I got the DVD tonight, already cut a file in Mahogany, it is well worth the price, but wish instant download was available

Watching the tutorials now, most of it I know, but James makes it like butta!

What bit(s) and feed speeds did you use to carve it in less than an hour? You may have a secret worth sharing.

I carved it with a Whiteside .25 End Mill at 200 ipm and a Beckwith Decor 1/8" end mill at 200ipm. My accel settings on my X (what is normally Y) are set to 50, and my accel on my Z is set the same.

Don't know what I am doing different. I know the machine moves pretty quick across it, doesn't have to slow down much for the Z to catch up.

Thanks Chris. You're using slightly faster speeds than I do, but not by much. The difference must be in the Z setup.

Is it really true that these carved pictures can´t be produced for resale? A business opportunity only for the serious hobbyist?

I think you may be getting confused with what you can do with the computer model and what you can do with the carved model.

"CNC carved design or a part grown on rapid prototyping equipment (rendered in any substrates), produced for you, your employer, or a client, that is not for resale or redistribution as art for reproduction or as any form of stock design."

Does this mean that the limit is that I can´t sell products that allows other to reproduce the models?

The license allows you to carve as many parts as you want on a CNC and sell those parts. It does not allow you to make a mold, die or other production device or to sell or give away the electronic data. Any other questions please email me at jab (@) carve3d.com
