Welcome to the forum and very nice job. What bits and speed did you use? The lettering is superb.

Thanks for posting.

Thank you! (Hope there´s enough left of my school english to answer any questions... )
I spent thousands of euros over the years to find out what bits, speeds etc are needed for the materials i work with.
None of the people who knew told me. Must be some kind of "secret" over here.
For the little name plates i use these bits at a speed
of 2-4mm/sec. It takes some time, but the result is perfect and the bits last longer.

Well, I tried my first brass engraving - the results were not so good. How long do your bits last? Can you do several of those name plates with the same bit?

Yes. The average is 50-60 nameplates until I have to change the bit. The best engraving results you´ll get with
CuZn57 which is harder due to it´s high zinc.
(I could give you a lot of hints in working with brass if only I could do it in german  )

Thank you. English works better for me because mein deutsch ist zehr schlecht...and I probably made six mistakes in that also. We lived a year in Heidelberg about 15 years ago, but little of my German remains.

If you send me your details in German I will have it translated and post it to the website. May take a day or two.
