Thanks Bill. It looks like very fine, dark lines around all the places where the depth changes. There's no actual dirt, it just looks that way. I'll have to try what you suggest.
Thanks,
Denver

I know it isn't dirt, but I think it is small burs of corian, the scrubbing seems to de-bur it some. The clear coat gets rid most of the rest.

It wasn't clear from my original question that this isn't really dirt, it just looks like it, so I thought I would clarify that for anyone else reading this later.
I also think it's small burs and ridges. Scrubbing and coating does indeed improve things - more on some images than others. I have a 1/16" tapered ball nose that I'm going to try, and compare the results.
Thanks,
Denver

I found its important to get feeds and spindle speed right because corian is more scrylic resin than powdered stone. I found I got a lot of "remelt" powder when I had my spindle speed too high. I also found I could fix this by using a nylon, brass or fine strand stainless brush on it and knock it away. I used harbor freight's detail brushes...99 cents for a nylon, brass and stainless detail brush set (59 cents on sale).

Set your depth (Z) to 0.0 on the surface of you piece then move away from the piece and lower the the Z axis to -0.1 and reset Z it to zero...and there you go Z zero is now at -0.1! Raise the Z up enough to clear the piece and load your file and cut away!!

Bill or anybody,
What exact conical bits are you using?
Where did you purchase them?
I have some conical bits (.125 shaft), but I think they are to delicate to be cutting into corian.
My other .25 conical does'nt have a real sharp point.
It is flat on the bottom of the conical. More for countersinking screws.
Any help appreciated.

Kent,
Thanks for the link..
I really like your nite light.
Curious, looks like you made 3 layers for the nite light. Why 3 layers?

Yep Grease , Three layers. crv file 4th entry in this thread http://vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=
Why, cause at the time thats only way I could figure out how to do it.
I originaly made it out of 0.5 inch corian. I thought it to heavy,so made out of the cherry . I was/am a newb when it comes to all this stuff, and not smart enough to go thru the tutorials... I learn as I go
Glad you like the night light. It got me some browny points with mom it is her parents. I did a Rectangular one for my father with his parents. I was real happy these as they were my first lithos ....
