Paint with wood. Sign.

Post by shanesmith »

I love using wood as paint. Here is a new show booth sign for a taxidermist I work with. It is 2' x 6'. I used...Pine, Paduak, Walnut, Satinwood, Wenge, and Maple. It's true colors won't show for a month or 2.

I think you could classify that as intarsia. Beautiful job. Thanks for sharing it.

Really Nice! On the address, are the pockets painted, or is that a different wood exposed through profile cuts...

Also, on the word Taxidermy.. Are the letters painted, or a different wood glued into place letter by letter?

And what are you using for the clear coat?... It looks great!

Thanks for all the complements! As for is there any paint...nope all wood of different color types. As for finish I use lacquer and this photo was taken right after spraying it on heavy.
