If that's a simple inlay I can't wait to see you do a complicated one. Nice work!

Very nice, I really like how you angled the inlay at 45 degrees across the base grain.

Re: Cabinet Door with V-Carve Inlay
What flavors of wood did you use?
Re: Cabinet Door with V-Carve Inlay
Cabinet door is quartersawn red oak, butterfly base is Walnut, center body is ebony, then wing inlays are yellowheart, bloodwood, and paudauk.
Re: Cabinet Door with V-Carve Inlay
Sweet! Did you have any problems with the Walnut chipping/tearing? I am working on an inlay and finding that walnut is fairly brittle, which results in holes/gaps.
Re: Cabinet Door with V-Carve Inlay
No, I didn't have any problem with the walnut at all.
But I think the walnut I used was dried naturally and not kiln dried.
Maybe that made a difference.

Well, at any rate, it turned out very nice. Nice selection of colors too.

Re: Cabinet Door with V-Carve Inlay
I have to ask - Is this a conventional or V inlay? It looks like it could have been done either way.
It is very nicely done with a great color selection.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.
I used the V-Inlay method as outlined in the document by Zank and Durrant.
