More wine cellar art
Cut in butternut, approx. 12" x 14". The idea is that the motto can be replaced with the customer's name or other message when ordered (or can be left as is...I kind of like it this way).

WOW Steve!
That's awesome.
Is it your design?
How long to machine and what did you use?

Re: More wine cellar art
Thanks! The general design is mine based on an idea from my wife. There are a few Vectorart 3d elements in it just to reduce the modeling time (the grapes, the scroll and the acanthus leaves). Otherwise I modeled it.
This took about 4.5 hours to cut using a 1/16" tapered carving bit running at 150 ipm, a 30-degree v-cutter for the lettering and a 1/8" end mill for cutout. Then there was another 2 hours or so of hand cleanup. Finished using Tim Merrill's glazing technique, with Polycrylic over that.

Re: More wine cellar art
I agree! I'd be willing to buy this design!
Edit: Minus the VectorArt3D parts, of course!

Re: More wine cellar art
Interesting idea, hadn't really thought of that. I'm not sure it would be very appealing if I took out their stuff, though. Maybe they'd be willing to license the design from me! How about it, James?

Excellent design for a custom coat of arms.
