Garden Bench

Welcome to the Labs sessions!

Here at Vectric we all love to make stuff, so we thought we would share our inspiration, designs and the CNC process with our community by sharing the projects we make.

Each project comes with its own video for you to watch that tells the story of what we’re making from start to finish. Including technical software footage, machining the parts in the Labs, finishing the projects and we’ll even throw a few tips in based on our experiences.

Each project comes with the file(s) for you to download, along with a PDF document that highlights some of the key important steps to help you get through your project.

Go ahead and try out one of the projects for yourself and share what you have made on the Vectric Forum!

Happy Making!

With this labs project I have taken on one of my largest projects to date and turned it into a three-part video series on how to make a wonderful garden bench. Over the series, I’ll show you the steps I took to turn an initial rough sketch into a functional bench with a bespoke 3D carving added. The process and information I’ll share will help you to better understand how to use your Vectric software. On top of that, if you are a VCarve Pro user thinking of upgrading to Aspire or a new Aspire user, the basic tools used to create the custom 3D carving will make you want to dig even deeper into Aspire’s set of tools!

Follow along through this series of videos and you will have all you need to make your own garden bench including the files I create. You will see that I’m using version 11 of both VCarve Pro and Aspire, so if you are not yet a V11 user or have been on the fence about upgrading to Aspire, you may find it helpful to have a free trial version of VCarve Pro or Aspire installed to follow along.

If a garden bench is not on your list of things to make, the workflow and information may inspire you to take on a project on a much larger scale. The files can be easily updated to make a matching chair or even a smaller version for a child!

Of course, the 3D carving I added to the back is included in the Aspire file for this project. If you have VCarve, you can update your file with the bonsai tree from the Design and Make store, any clipart from your library, or simply v-carve an inspiring saying. I encourage you to update what I have done and make this your own!

Have fun and keep safe!

Todd
