Winter Scene

In this month’s “In The Labs at Christmas” project, David shows us how to make a wondrous winter scene as a stylishly simple way to help you decorate your home or create gifts for your Christmas-themed Etsy shop. This quick and easy slot project is perfect for beginners to tackle, or for the more experienced users who are looking for fun ideas to keep those children or grandchildren busy with Christmas crafting. Why not make this project into a personalized window display, mantel piece decoration, dining table display or spruce up your office desk, bedroom or workshop.

David will show you how he designed this wintry scene in Cut2D using the new free hand drawing tool to sketch the snowman, sledge. mountain silhouettes and trees. This new tool is great for creating organic shapes as the stylus mimics the action of drawing. David then adds his cottage model and creates the snowflake plinth decoration using the draw rectangle tool to complete his wintry woodland project. Watch as David lays up each vertical layer of the scene onto one sheet of MDF pre-sprayed white to give it a snowy vibe then uses an easy set of toolpaths to simplify cutting and assembly.
