Christmas Bunting

Welcome to the 12 Projects of Christmas 2020! Beki and Todd have put their elf hats on and have been working hard in the Vectric Grotto Labs designing, machining, assembling & finishing 12 FREE projects as a special Christmas treat from all of us here at Vectric for our loyal customers! All the projects are based around Christmas gifts or decor where we will be launching a new project each and every day running from the 1st-12th December.

On the third day of Christmas Vectric made for me… Decoupage Christmas Bunting!

This is a fairly simple project that you can machine in no time to add to your Christmas décor! I’ve always liked the idea of making wood bunting and have only got around to it now, just in time for the Christmas festivities. I chose to use Birch Plywood as I just love the look of it and better still I love that when you cut into it the layers that form the sheet are exposed, adding furthermore dimension and interest to finished piece.

The project consists of three toolpaths, VCarving for the letters and two profile toolpaths to cut the hanging holes and the bunting shapes.

To finish I used the art of decoupage, where I used a Christmas themed napkin, carefully cutting the prints I wanted to use, and using modpodge and water stuck it in place! I really like this technique as it is quick to do, it’s effective and it doesn’t require you to be skilled with a paintbrush! I used some Christmas ribbon to thread the bunting and this would be great to hang around a fireplace mantle or on a wall!

I hope you enjoy making this project, we would love to see your version of this project so please make sure to tag us across our social media channels or upload images of your project to the Vectric forum!

Happy Making!

Beki
