Recap of the 2024 Vectric User Group Meeting in Austin

Our annual User Group Meeting, held at the Embassy Suites in Round Rock, Austin, Texas, on October 11-12 delivered a jam-packed agenda of knowledge-sharing, software training sessions, and invaluable networking opportunities.

What Made This Year’s Event Special?

The two-day event covered a wide range of CNC-related topics, including focused sessions on our Cut2D, VCarve and Aspire software, and all the latest updates, particularly V12. The event catered to attendees of all expertise levels, with sessions designed to increase efficiency and creativity for both hobbyists and business owners. The technical presentations were complemented by live demonstrations, which helped bring complex software features and CNC machining techniques to life.

Key Highlights:

Ask the Experts Panel: One of the most popular additions this year was the Ask the Experts segment, where industry experts took the stage to answer real-time questions from the audience. This session proved to be an excellent opportunity for attendees to gain practical, actionable insights and to have their unique CNC challenges addressed directly.

Networking & Community Building: While the structured sessions were highly informative, many attendees found equal value in the informal discussions held during breaks and mealtimes. These impromptu conversations offered opportunities to share ideas, discuss current projects, and troubleshoot common CNC issues.

Industry-Leading Presenters:

Special guest speakers, included a selection of our CNC manufacturer partners; Brian from Streamline Automation covered machining oversized sculptures and how to breakdown huge projects in to manageable segments, Eric from Avid CNC showcased using Vectric software for routing, laser and plasma machining, Scott from Sienci Labs gave attendees a whistle-stop tour of wrapped rotary machining. In addition, there were a selection of well some well-known and inspirational users of Vectric software including; George Vondriska on v-carving tips and tricks, Jeff & Joe covered restoration modeling techniques of their A-18 carriage, Kyle Ely from Learn your CNC with efficient machining techniques and Gary Johnson closed the event with project finishing advice.

A Community-Driven Experience

Beyond the learning and technical demonstrations, the event was an opportunity for like-minded individuals to connect. Whether over coffee or in the hotel lobby, CNC enthusiasts shared their passion for design and machining, offering advice and encouragement to one another. The sense of community at the Vectric User Group Meeting is a hallmark of the event, and many attendees remarked that they left feeling inspired and more connected to the global CNC community​
