Welcome to the Labs sessions! We love to make and share projects with our community and enjoy nothing more than providing you with FREE monthly CNC projects that you can download and cut for yourself!
Each project comes with its own video for you to watch telling the story of what we’re making from start to finish. It includes technical software footage, machining each part in the Labs and finishing the project, and as an added bonus, we throw in a few tips based on our experience! We would love to see what you turned this project into so download the files from your V&CO account then share what you’ve made on the Vectric Forum.
Interruptions are a common challenge when recording video or audio content, especially here in the Vectric Labs. No matter how much notice you give your co-workers, friends, or family, they’ll still find a way to interrupt—and always at the worst possible moment! That’s why we hope this project will not only help reduce disruptions but also add a stylish prop to enhance your next video.
This fun project features a “stepped inlay” technique, which ensures the letters are easy to install and light up beautifully. Todd will guide you through the process, starting with an in-depth look at the inlay toolpath, exploring all the available options, and sharing pro tips to get the most out of this powerful feature.
After testing the inlay, Todd will walk you through the finished file and tooling setup. The project uses six different sheets, but if you’re using VCarve Pro or Aspire, you can optimize it to use fewer sheets with larger toolpaths. While Todd’s design features an “On-Air” sign, you can easily customize the text to suit your needs.
Once all the parts are cut, assembly and finishing are a breeze. This project has been a long time in the making, and we hope it helps your next “take” go more smoothly than the intro to this video.
Have fun, and keep making—this time, with fewer interruptions!
